A popular Coronation Street character is set to temporarily depart from the soap following a series of dramatic events.
Before her wedding, Bernie discovered her grandson Brody (Ryan Mulvey) attempting to rob Dev’s house in order to fund his escape with his younger sisters.
Bernie managed to convince him otherwise, but later at the wedding, she suddenly found herself struggling to breathe and was rushed to hospital.
Thankfully, it turned out that Bernie had suffered an allergic reaction to flowers. Once recovered, she gathered her newly blended family at the hospital where she and Dev finally exchanged vows.
However, drama ensued when Dev’s son Aadi (Adam Hussain) confessed to his father about an insurance scam he’d been involved in, which Bernie had helped cover up. Despite initially being furious, Dev eventually forgave his new wife, reports the Daily Star.
Next week, Bernie attempts to convince Dev to employ Brody at his shop. However, when Aadi catches wind of this, he exposes Brody’s past actions, revealing that he was the one who brought drugs to a party a few weeks prior.
At No. 7, Bernie suggests to Dev that they should delay their honeymoon so he can mend his relationship with Aadi. Dev concurs but insists that Bernie should go on her own as the break will benefit her. Bernie gives him a tender kiss.
